This episode was recorded at SXSWEDU. Thanks to edvinca and Class Central for sponsoring this episode.
This week’s episode features three conversations from across Norway, Finland and Sweden. First up, I just wanted to give all this week’s guests a massive high five for their amazing accents.
Listen in to hear about everything from where to hang out in Austin, what happens when you take an artificial intelligence course online aged 13, and how to get over global education being either about holistic wellbeing or being great at PISA.

This week I am in conversation with Jesús Ariel Sánchez, a K-12 teacher from the E. E. MILLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in North Carolina. Jesus is a listener to The Edtech Podcast and we got the chance to meet and record at this year’s SXSWedu where we talked apps, cycling and making. This episode also includes a heap of listener feedback from Uber's in India to twittersphere.

This week I am in conversation with edX CEO Anant Agwal. I interviewed Anant the day after he shared a stage with US Ed Secretary, Betsy De Vos, where he encouraged her to consider a range of policy options in front of a live audience at SXSWEDU in Austin. In this recording we talk about that experience, plus how MOOCS and online learning are developing, why writing is as important as coding, why choosing your favourite learner is as bad as having a favourite child, and we even invite Class Central Founder Dhawal Shah to bring his expertise to bear after his fantastic talk on The Evolution of MOOCs also at SXSW Edu.
“If I were to re-do my life, I would spend more time on writing.” I really enjoy writing, I used to write poems and so on” -

This week’s podcast features a recording from this year’s SXSWEDU where I interviewed general all-round duracell bunny Bridget Burns of the University Innovation Alliance. Bridget spoke to me about how University’s can focus on better student experience, value, and access through better collaboration and less walled garden approaches. If you’re familiar with JISC in the UK, you may be reminded of some similar methodologies, though I’d love to hear your thoughts as usual! So get tweeting, emailing, or send in a VM for inclusion.

Hi everyone and welcome to The Edtech Podcast in TAKEOVER this week with boclips.
This week we are talking about video in education, teaching and learning .
There’s no doubt about the power of video to engage us and communicate new ideas. TED content receives 3.2billion views a year and TED’s youth and education initiative TEDEd grew 47% year-over-year in 2017 – 2018. (Oh and by the way, you can check out our interview with Alex Rosenthal, Editorial Producer of TEDed from last year in episode 70). Over on Youtube, the EDU aspect of YouTube is going great guns hosting original content and making education and edtech stars from the likes of Colin Hegarty, Dianna Cowern and Salman Khan to name but a few. In fact, Khan Academy has more than 62 million registered users.
In this episode we look at how video is supporting learning in and out of the classroom, and some of the barriers to getting high-quality, engaging video within educational settings. Expect Youtuber tips on amazing learning content across everything from Science to Philosophy and ELT.
This episode celebrates the addition of the Youtube EDU Basho & Friends and Crash Course channels and TEDed to boclips, as part of a wider Youtube initiative. You can register to the boclips library as an educator or content provider here: http://boclips.com/registration-form
Thanks to all my guests this week, Basho Mosko, Hank Green, Bethany Beaudrie and David Bainbridge!
Have you learnt a huge amount from video? What are your favourite video sites or Youtube channels to learn from? What content do you like to use in schools or Unis? Can there ever be enough Donald Trump News Footage?
I’d love to hear your stories on learning through video – please do share them in. Record a quick free voicemail via speakpipe for inclusion in the next episode. Or you can post your thoughts or follow-on links via twitter @podcastedtech or via The Edtech Podcast Facebook page or Instagram or via @boclips.

See you there!
This episode was recorded at Bett 2018. A BIG THANKS to BibliU and Class Central for sponsoring this episode.
This week we are in conversation with Ian Dunn, Deputy Vice Chancellor at The University of Coventry. This was one of my favourite recordings made at Bett this year. Not only will you hear from one of the most progressive and arguably well-resourced Universities about being equally online and offline, you’ll also hear how they are focusing on student services and needs, sometimes with the use of technologies.

Welcome to this ninth episode of the The Future Tech for Education Series on The Edtech Podcast, supported by Pearson
With technology, teachers actually sometimes see less student work than they do with a traditional worksheet. How can resources developers best communicate about students' work to teachers? What instructional decisions do teachers make for which it is helpful to have data to answer? Are data points useful beyond intervention alone? What do teachers actually seek from data and how it is presented, without adding to existing workload? What latest design methods of communicating information can be used to feedback student performance to teachers whilst maintaining the agency of all stakeholders? Is the “data-dashboard” here to stay? Or, is there another way?
